In short: You can set up Sign in with Apple for Shopify's new customer accounts, but while it's in early access, only some stores can use it. Even stores that have access need to complete setup in the Apple Developer portal in addition to the settings in the Shopify admin, and need a custom sender domain for the private email relay.
Key points
- Sign in with Apple is in early access, and the option to connect it appears in the Shopify admin for only some stores
- Google and Facebook setup is done entirely in the Shopify admin and each provider's developer console, but Apple setup also requires creating an App ID and a Services ID
- You enter the private key, Team ID, and Key ID generated in the Apple Developer portal in the Shopify admin
- You can register up to 10 website URLs per Apple Services ID
- To use Apple's private email relay, you need a custom sender domain instead of the default Shopify domain
Can you set up Apple login with new customer accounts?
Yes. Customer accounts let you enable login with Google, Facebook, Apple, or Shop credentials.
Social login works alongside the default passwordless authentication, and you can enable it for multiple providers at the same time.

If you enable Apple login, can customers still use other login methods?
Yes. Because you can enable social login for multiple providers at the same time, customers can keep using Google, Facebook, and the default passwordless authentication after you connect Apple.

How is Apple login setup different from Google and Facebook?
Social login with Google and Facebook is set up entirely in the authentication settings under Settings > Customer accounts in the Shopify admin and in each provider's developer console.
Apple setup involves more steps in the Apple Developer portal, and the settings are different. Set it up in this order.
- In the Shopify admin, go to Settings > Customer accounts. In the Authentication (「認証」) section, click Connect (「連携」) next to Apple to open the Sign in with Apple page
- In the Apple Developer portal, register an App ID with the Sign in with Apple capability enabled
- In the Apple Developer portal, create a Services ID linked to the App ID
- Register your store's domain and the return URL shown in the Shopify admin with the Services ID you created
- In the Apple Developer portal, create a private key and check your Team ID and Key ID
- On the Sign in with Apple page in the Shopify admin, enter the Services ID, Team ID, and Key ID, and upload the private key file

Are there limits when setting up an Apple Services ID?
Yes. You can register up to 10 website URLs per Apple Services ID. If you're using a Services ID that already has more than 10 registered URLs, create a new Services ID.

What do you need to use Apple's private email relay?
A verified custom sender domain. The default Shopify domain can't send email to Apple's private email relay, so add a CNAME record to your domain and then register the domain.
To register it, follow the steps in Apple Developer Help. Once this is set up, one-time passcodes and order confirmation emails from your store reliably reach customers, even if they choose an Apple private relay email address. How to use social login, including Google and Facebook, together with a sign-up form is covered in How to use a sign-up form alongside Shop, Google, and Facebook login.
